Whataburger Packaging

My production work on Whataburger spans the suite of to-go packaging, that was refreshed twice, including the bags, cups, paper burger wrappers, cartons and boxes. When Whataburger expanded into retail products I worked on their trifecta – good ol’ Fancy Ketchup, Spicy Ketchup and Original Mustard. That was so successful that they released a whole line of retail sauces and other products, which I enjoyed working on as well.

The to-go cups are printed on Flexo. The iconic stripes were placed, accounting for the overlap area, so that the pattern was seamlessly repeated all the way around. Because Flexo has a larger minimun stroke width than other printing processes, the bug that appears on many of their packaging pieces was edited to increase the counter spaces of the letters.

Whataburger Apparel

To make this shirt I created a seamless Illustrator pattern swatch. The challenge in making the seamless pattern was to get the artwork to align while keeping the rotation and the shifting step and repeat.
